The Godmother Part 7: Gangstas Gone Wild
A Play in a Day in support of the Legal Information Society of Nova Scotia
Building on a tradition of spoofing well known, but not necessarily theatre, literary works, this year's production "The Godmother Part 7: Gangstas Gone Wild" is once again, an original script. As suggested by the title, it is a "mash up" of TV and movie mob/gangster genre productions. We are sure it will lead to many scripted misunderstandings on stage. We are positive it will lead to laughter!
But we can't tell you any more.... because the script is top secret! And its contents won't be known by the cast or crew until 24 hours before we open the doors to YOU, the audience.
Play in a Day is a fundraiser for the Legal Information Society of Nova Scotia (legalinfo.org). In the past few months teams of friends, family or colleagues have been fundraising for this Nova Scotia charity. On October 19th, all of the teams come together, here at the Bella Rose Arts Centre and under the guidance of Producer, Jeremy Webb, to begin work on "The Godmother Part 7: Gangstas Gone Wild". None of the participants know anything more about the script than it's title!
The group of 50 people is divided into cast or crew, then, lead by industry veterans, they are mentored through the process of learning their "piece" of the production. And they had better learn fast! Because the following night, October 20th at 7PM, we open the doors for YOU, the audience! The entire timeline for producing a play (usually months in the making) has been collapsed into 24 hours. You get to see the amazing results!
Oh... and by the way.... the "run" of this production has been collapsed as well! Your ticket includes the "Opening Night Gala" (a gala reception at 7PM), the full scale play (8PM) as well as the production "Closing Night Wrap Party" (9PM). Both receptions include food (cash bar).
