The Halifax Concert Band

The 44th Annual Spring Concert

The Halifax Concert Band will present their annual spring concert on Tuesday, May 30th, here in the Bella Rose Arts Centre with the concert getting underway at 7:30.

Our resident Conductor and Music Director Dave Staples has selected a variety of great concert music, which includes a number of Canadian compositions to celebrate Canada's 15th birthday, such as “The Banks of Newfoundland” by the well known Canadian composer Howard Cable, the late Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah" with vocal soloist Perla Canelas, “Nothern Lights March” by the late Ron MacKay, who was a well know local composer, music educator, and conductor, "Three Folk Miniatures" by Andre Jutras, and a touch of the Irish with "Donnelly's Escape", a jig for flute and clarinet composed by Mark Cuming, with Mark Cuming and Andrea Dale as soloists.

The program will also present Clare Grundman's “Pipe Dream”, a reverie for clarinet and band with soloist Janet Kawchup as well as other selections from the band's repertoire and promises to be an enjoyable evening of concert music.
