About The Event

What do you do if you don’t seem to fit in anywhere? This joyful, silly, and energetic show features an insecure platypus who is worried about all the ways that they are different. With catchy songs and a cast of characters who each have something in common with our platypus friend, this story is about finding your people and celebrating who you are! Written by the award-winning team Dan Bray and Colleen Arcturus MacIsaac, this fun new musical play is for children ages 3+ and the people who drive them around.

Bio: The Villains Theatre has been making strange, silly, and spooky theatre in Kjipuktuk/Halifax since 2009. Our award-nominated children’s show Dinostories (created by Dan Bray and Noella Murphy with music by Justin Gregg and Ranke de Vries) has played to acclaim across the province. We make theatre for kids and for adults, with a wide variety of work ranging from parodies to performance art – and everything in between! Recent work includes the surreal drama Deepwater by Dan Bray (playing at Neptune Theatre this October), the musical outdoor astronomy class A Beginner’s Guide to the Night Sky by Colleen Arcturus MacIsaac (returning to a park near you this September), and two new plays coming up this September at the Halifax Fringe Festival!
