What We Do
Who We Are
The Bella Rose Arts Centre is a professional 600-seat performing arts venue in the heart of Clayton Park, dedicated to celebrating diversity, accessibility, cultural heritage, and the power of live performance. As a leader in the local arts and entertainment community, the Bella Rose continues to champion opportunities that connect audiences of all ages to meaningful cultural experiences. This year, the Centre is proud to shine a spotlight on family-oriented programming—offering performances that inspire young audiences, strengthen community support for youth initiatives, and nurture the next generation of arts lovers and patrons.
To further enhance the audience and performer experience, the Bella Rose has recently completed significant upgrades to its technical infrastructure. With state-of-the-art sound systems, advanced lighting design capabilities, and cutting-edge video projection technology, the Centre is equipped to deliver performances of the highest quality. These improvements not only elevate artistic presentation but also ensure the venue can meet the evolving needs of today’s performers, audiences, and community partners.
Our Mission
To be a leader in Halifax Regional Municipality’s arts and entertainment landscape in which diversity and inclusion, accessibility, cultural heritage and the arts are supported and celebrated.
Our Vision
The Bella Rose Arts Centre will promote, develop and host social, cultural and artistic programming in an economically sustainable model for growth and accessibility in the community.
Who is Bella Rose?
In recognition of a Distinguished Nova Scotian and in loving memory of their mother, siblings Jack, Judy, Colin, Ann, Richard, Mickey and Michelle have named the venue after their mother, Mrs. Bella MacDonald. She was an extraordinary lady, well-ahead of her time – a visionary, a mentor and a professional who raised seven children to be kind and generous. Taught at the hands of their mother, the siblings all learned that no matter the profession, success comes through focus and hard work. Bella MacDonald taught her children well by instilling in each of them the value and importance of being generous to community.
Bella Rose is the granddaughter of Bella MacDonald and daughter of Mickey MacDonald, an astute businessman, who is also a member of our National Advisory Team for the Brighter Futures Campaign.
