The Holiday Show!
Celebrating the release of her debut picture book, It Snowed (set for release on November 4 through Nimbus), Halifax-based JUNO award-winning singer-songwriter, musician, and visual artist, Meaghan Smith will perform The Holiday Show at the Bella Rose Arts Centre in Halifax on Friday, December 19 at 7 p.m. and Saturday, December 20 at 2 p.m.
This magical holiday spectacular for the whole family stars Smith, backed by a full band, along with special guest Vincenzo Ravina: Actual Wizard plus local children’s choirs.
“On top of celebrating the season and being part of so many Nova Scotian family traditions, I’m thrilled to share my music and present my first picture book, It Snowed, based on my holiday song of the same name, as the backdrop,” says Smith. “I want the entire show to feel like holiday magic for everyone who comes. This is a celebration for families, for grown-ups who often create the magic, and for anyone ready to be swept up in the joy of the season. Sparkles encouraged!”
Smith and her band will perform songs from her holiday albums as well as holiday classics, fan favourites and new original songs. The celebration will also continue offstage with holiday treats, hot drinks and prizes plus
a visit from someone in a very familiar red suit.
*Special Matinee Add-On! From 12:30 p.m to 1:30 p.m., just ahead of Saturday’s matinee, concert goers can enjoy a magical ‘up close’ moment with Meaghan Smith. The hour will include live music and a special reading by Smith from her new book, It Snowed. There will also be fun activity pages and a chance for everyone to decorate their very own snowflake cookie! This event is perfect for kids and families. Space is limited.
About Meaghan Smith
Meaghan Smith is a singer, songwriter, illustrator, and visual artist whose work blends nostalgia with raw emotion. With a Juno Award for Best New Artist, multiple ECMA wins, and a Polaris Prize-nominated album (The Cricket’s Orchestra), her music has resonated across the world, featured in Gray’s Anatomy, One Tree Hill, Queer Eye, Emily in Paris, and more. Her songs, rich with storytelling and warmth, have taken her across North America and the UK, sharing stages with Sarah McLachlan, k.d. lang, Jools Holland, Ron Sexmith, Chantal Kreviazuk, and Tracy Chapman. While she no longer tours, she continues to write and record in her Halifax home studio alongside her
husBand and producer, Jason Mingo. Beyond music, Smith is a painter and illustrator, creating intricate miniature paintings and running her stationery brand, M. Kind Papersmith, where she encourages meaningful connections through handwritten letters. When she’s not making music or art, you can often find her writing snail-mail letters to her patrons—slow, thoughtful exchanges in a world that sometimes moves too fast.
